Sweet Sweet week 14

Some day I'll start belly pictures, but for now here are a few more 12 week surro baby shots.

 Alien baby!

How Many Weeks? 14 weeks

Size of Baby?  From head to bottom, baby measures 3 1/2 inches – about the size of a lemon – and weighs 1 1/2 ounces

Showing? Still small enough that true maternity shirts look weird, but big enough that normal clothes are tight. Starting to feel more pregnant and less gross looking though!

Symptoms?  So very thankful that once week 13 hit a lot of my pregnancy symptoms subsided! I woke up ON week 13 and didn't feel like I was going to die if I didn't roll back over and go back to sleep.  Still random nausea and tiredness, but nothing crazy. My sense of smell is still off the charts.

Sleep?  Great minus bathroom breaks and some crazy intense dreams. Welcome back weird dreams of pregnancy!

Miss Anything?  Nothing much these weeks

Movement?  Those fantom movements seemed to have taken a break this week.

Food Cravings? No. Quite the opposite since deciding on meals is rough and nothing sounds good.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Certain smells but not one thing in particular I can pin point.

Gender Prediction? Nope

Recent Doctors Appointment?  The NT scan went fantastic and MAN is it amazing seeing how far ultrasounds have come in just a few years!  At 12 weeks we could see more than we could see at my 20 week scan with Charlie!  The tech was also super talkative and friendly so that made the appointment that much better.

Best IP moment? We had almost 2 hours to kill between the meeting with the genetic counselor and the NT scan so I got an amazing few hours of hang out time with my IM. We got to just hang out and talk and it was wonderful getting to know each other on a more personal level.

Most asked question? I've been asked a lot over the phone if I'm showing yet.

Nesting? We have been on the run non-stop so there has been no time for anything nesting related. But I think after the few weeks prior, I'm good with nesting for a while.

Fun Filled Facts About Surrogacy

I'm honestly struggling on where to start!  So let's start with a few fun filled facts about surrogacy. 1. Gestational Carrier vs. Traditional Surrogacy - Gestational Surrogacy is when a women also referred to as a surrogate mother carries a baby for an intended couple or individual.  The gestational surrogate has no genetic relationship to the child that she is carrying. Traditional Surrogacy is when the surrogate mother uses her own eggs to create the child that she is carrying for the intended parents or individual. Either the sperm of the intended father is used or donor sperm. I will in no way be genetic link to the baby I will be carrying and therefore will be a gestational carrier, although I just prefer the term Surrogate so will use that more frequently. 2. What is an IP, IM & IF? IP = Intended parents, IM = Intended mother, IF, Intended Father aka the people I will be growing the baby for :)  To protect my IP's privacy I will not be using their ...

Second Time's a Charm?

Sorry to leave those of you reading these blogs hanging!  It's amazing how my motivation to write these goes up and down so drastically. I last left you hanging with having to up my meds quite a bit since my lining wasn't where the doctor wanted it to be for implantation.  Well, I went back last Monday for a follow up ultra sound and sadly there was no improvement, and I now had some fluid build up which was a sign that the increase and changed method of medication delivery, was now too much for my body.  A total bummer for all involved but definitely a common occurrence.  I checked in with my caseworker and intended parents and let myself be bummed out for the day before getting back in the positive mindset.  I also reached out to my support group and got a lot of great feedback on how normal this was.  I was told by the doctor to stop all meds right away, they would call in a new prescription for me to start that night - which would force me to get my p...

IVF Week 4 - Hiccup

The last two weeks have been a lot of the same since my week 2 IVF post.  Same meds each day, rinse, repeat and wait.  Although, I did have my first evening to night-time outing that required me to pack up my Lupron to take on the go.  It needs to be refrigerated, which makes things a little more challenging, but thank goodness for big purses and private bathroom stalls!  It still felt very odd giving myself an injection while other women were coming in and out of the bathroom at the restaurant. Travel makeup bag becomes mini cooler! I've been anxiously awaiting my ultrasound appointment so they could check my lining and give me the go ahead to start progesterone and lock in the official implantation date for the week after.  The day finally came yesterday and the doctor was so on time that I ended up on the table with a way too full bladder after a 30 minute drive and morning coffee.  She thought my lining looked thinner than they were hoping for but...
