Half Way Point!

How Many Weeks? 20 weeks and half way cooked!

Size of Baby?  Baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now and is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel – about the length of a large banana.

Showing? OHhhhh yes! I'm having fun watching people's eyes drop down to my belly in the office but people have been very polite and no one has asked/commented yet.

Symptoms?  Feeling great! I still get tired more easily and have had random nights of heartburn but overall totally "normal" feeling.

Sleep?  Sleeps been pretty wonderful and uninterrupted these days.  I should probably get a new boyfriend pillow really soon though since my belly is actually out there now and I tend to sleep on my side but really more rolled over onto my belly.

Miss Anything?  I had a pretty rough day last week and thought "man I wish I could have a cocktail right now".  We also went brewery hopping for Mike's birthday this past weekend and the last stop we went to had this guava berliner weisse that smelt SO good!  I look forward to going back there and having a glass myself next year.

Movement?  This kid is a mover! I actually felt movement from the outside for the first time about a week ago but no one else has been able to yet (that whole, the second someone touches your belly the baby stops moving, thing).  I can also almost always tell where it's head is since it's poking out more. However my placenta is posterior (flipped backwards) so there isn't much in the way to stifle the movements etc. (so says my doctor and every ultrasound tech we've seen)

Food Cravings? Random things will pop up that sounds good from time to time, but no real cravings.  I do feel hungry a lot more often these days.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Still being a passenger in the car.

Gender Prediction? Nope

Recent Doctors Appointment?  We've had a regular check-up and the anatomy-scan! Everything looks perfect with baby and it's measuring right where it should.

Best IP moment? I really love playing the baby the stories the parents have been sending over. I don't listen often - they are played through "belly buds" directly to the baby" - but I just think the process of them recording themselves and going through the trouble is so fun and sweet.  And of course, getting to see them at appointments :)

Most asked question? Is it getting harder to stay disconnected now that the baby is moving?  Answer - No. I mean, I care for this little nugget and I love getting to be the one to grow it, but nothing has changed in the way of any additional bonding. Especially now that I've been feeling pretty good overall I forget it's in there until I pass a mirror or it starts to move.

Nesting? I spent what felt like the entire day Sunday cleaning out and reorganizing all my sewing, crafting and party hosting supplies.  Seems like it wouldn't be that much stuff but I have quite the collection going!   Mike built a new wine storage/shelving unit to go above our wine fridge, which led to me cleaning out our big "china" cabinet, which led to me buying new bins and organizing all the above mentioned items to put into said cabinet so I can reorganize our linen closet that had been taken over by all that above crap.  I think Mike caught me staring at the cabinet 100 times Sunday night to admire my work :)
Perfect profile - check out those lips!
Sucking its thumb :)

Fun Filled Facts About Surrogacy

I'm honestly struggling on where to start!  So let's start with a few fun filled facts about surrogacy. 1. Gestational Carrier vs. Traditional Surrogacy - Gestational Surrogacy is when a women also referred to as a surrogate mother carries a baby for an intended couple or individual.  The gestational surrogate has no genetic relationship to the child that she is carrying. Traditional Surrogacy is when the surrogate mother uses her own eggs to create the child that she is carrying for the intended parents or individual. Either the sperm of the intended father is used or donor sperm. I will in no way be genetic link to the baby I will be carrying and therefore will be a gestational carrier, although I just prefer the term Surrogate so will use that more frequently. 2. What is an IP, IM & IF? IP = Intended parents, IM = Intended mother, IF, Intended Father aka the people I will be growing the baby for :)  To protect my IP's privacy I will not be using their ...

Second Time's a Charm?

Sorry to leave those of you reading these blogs hanging!  It's amazing how my motivation to write these goes up and down so drastically. I last left you hanging with having to up my meds quite a bit since my lining wasn't where the doctor wanted it to be for implantation.  Well, I went back last Monday for a follow up ultra sound and sadly there was no improvement, and I now had some fluid build up which was a sign that the increase and changed method of medication delivery, was now too much for my body.  A total bummer for all involved but definitely a common occurrence.  I checked in with my caseworker and intended parents and let myself be bummed out for the day before getting back in the positive mindset.  I also reached out to my support group and got a lot of great feedback on how normal this was.  I was told by the doctor to stop all meds right away, they would call in a new prescription for me to start that night - which would force me to get my p...

IVF Week 4 - Hiccup

The last two weeks have been a lot of the same since my week 2 IVF post.  Same meds each day, rinse, repeat and wait.  Although, I did have my first evening to night-time outing that required me to pack up my Lupron to take on the go.  It needs to be refrigerated, which makes things a little more challenging, but thank goodness for big purses and private bathroom stalls!  It still felt very odd giving myself an injection while other women were coming in and out of the bathroom at the restaurant. Travel makeup bag becomes mini cooler! I've been anxiously awaiting my ultrasound appointment so they could check my lining and give me the go ahead to start progesterone and lock in the official implantation date for the week after.  The day finally came yesterday and the doctor was so on time that I ended up on the table with a way too full bladder after a 30 minute drive and morning coffee.  She thought my lining looked thinner than they were hoping for but...
