28 weeks - Hooray 3rd Trimester!

How Many Weeks? 28 weeks

Size of Baby?   Baby weighs 2 1/4 pounds - about the size of a large eggplant - and measures 14.8 inches from the top of head to heels.

Showing? Oh so very much so! I definitely feel larger this time around!

Symptoms?  Ugh, hello sciatic nerve pain.  Along with that, or tied to it, is my tailbone pain from sitting too long. Thank goodness for a stand-up desk at work!

Sleep?  Still sleeping really well. Even with a nightly bathroom break I tend to fall back to sleep within seconds.  I did flip my "boyfriend" pillow upside down so I can use my normal pillow again due to constant headaches/neck-aches. So re-learning to rolling over and get readjusted caused a few more wake-ups.

Miss Anything?  Snuggling the kids on my lap without the pain when lean back too hard. Charlie's seemed extra lovey lately so I've been coming up with new ways to hold my baby boy.

Movement? Party in my belly! The kicks are getting big enough to really startle me and make me jump - even making the dog jump a few times.

Food Cravings? The mass quantities of holiday candy in the house is getting the best of me.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Nothing of note recently. Even the car has seemed to gotten better over the last few weeks.

Gender Prediction? It's a baby!

Recent Doctors Appointment?  We had a check-up last month and since we never really have any questions and everything is on par, our doctor brought in the ultrasound machine so the parents could get another look at their nugget :)  It was being shy and blocking it's face for most of it but finally showed that adorable profile - and it's insane flexibility because it's feet were well over it's head!

Best IP moment? Them getting to see baby again!  They are also been telling family, friends, coworkers, etc. that they are expecting - even put an announcement on their New Years card.  I think it makes it all the more real for them that baby will be here soon :)

Most asked question? Any gender predictions? Are you still feeling good about giving up the baby?  And lots and lots of questions about the process.  I feel like people were holding back until now!  By the way, still feeling a-ok about giving them their baby back :)  I'm not giving up anything.

Nesting? Mike officially gave this past weekend the nesting label.  It started with cleaning out every inch of Kendall's room after Christmas and then re-organizing Charlie's room (which wasn't too hard since I just cleaned out all the toys when we did the room revamp). That led to putting away all the Christmas stuff which somehow got me going on cleaning out every drawer, cabinet, bin, purse, wallet, toiletry bag, etc. in the entire house.  It always feels so good after but my body doesn't love it after.  Now that the house is all set for a while maybe I'll get around to creating a bunch of photo books I've been putting off...

Fun Filled Facts About Surrogacy

I'm honestly struggling on where to start!  So let's start with a few fun filled facts about surrogacy. 1. Gestational Carrier vs. Traditional Surrogacy - Gestational Surrogacy is when a women also referred to as a surrogate mother carries a baby for an intended couple or individual.  The gestational surrogate has no genetic relationship to the child that she is carrying. Traditional Surrogacy is when the surrogate mother uses her own eggs to create the child that she is carrying for the intended parents or individual. Either the sperm of the intended father is used or donor sperm. I will in no way be genetic link to the baby I will be carrying and therefore will be a gestational carrier, although I just prefer the term Surrogate so will use that more frequently. 2. What is an IP, IM & IF? IP = Intended parents, IM = Intended mother, IF, Intended Father aka the people I will be growing the baby for :)  To protect my IP's privacy I will not be using their ...

Second Time's a Charm?

Sorry to leave those of you reading these blogs hanging!  It's amazing how my motivation to write these goes up and down so drastically. I last left you hanging with having to up my meds quite a bit since my lining wasn't where the doctor wanted it to be for implantation.  Well, I went back last Monday for a follow up ultra sound and sadly there was no improvement, and I now had some fluid build up which was a sign that the increase and changed method of medication delivery, was now too much for my body.  A total bummer for all involved but definitely a common occurrence.  I checked in with my caseworker and intended parents and let myself be bummed out for the day before getting back in the positive mindset.  I also reached out to my support group and got a lot of great feedback on how normal this was.  I was told by the doctor to stop all meds right away, they would call in a new prescription for me to start that night - which would force me to get my p...

IVF Week 4 - Hiccup

The last two weeks have been a lot of the same since my week 2 IVF post.  Same meds each day, rinse, repeat and wait.  Although, I did have my first evening to night-time outing that required me to pack up my Lupron to take on the go.  It needs to be refrigerated, which makes things a little more challenging, but thank goodness for big purses and private bathroom stalls!  It still felt very odd giving myself an injection while other women were coming in and out of the bathroom at the restaurant. Travel makeup bag becomes mini cooler! I've been anxiously awaiting my ultrasound appointment so they could check my lining and give me the go ahead to start progesterone and lock in the official implantation date for the week after.  The day finally came yesterday and the doctor was so on time that I ended up on the table with a way too full bladder after a 30 minute drive and morning coffee.  She thought my lining looked thinner than they were hoping for but...
